Welcome to my website.  I am primarily a portrait artist, working in oil.   I specialize in commissioned portraits and in historical portraits of writers, artists, and musicians.  My philosophy is simple: I aim to produce a vivid, life-like portrait in a vigorous, realist style - one that captures the character of my sitter in an arresting way.  I have been painting for twelve years.  I'm entirely self-taught and have based my own style upon a close study of master portrait artists such as John Singer Sargent and Thomas Eakins.
